On 27 October, Warsaw hosted the 2nd meeting of the Committee of Senior Officials (CSO) under the Polish Presidency of the CBSS.
Members of the CSO discussed cooperation with the Strategic Partners and CBSS Observer States. The next CSO meeting, scheduled for 2-3 December in Stockholm, will be held jointly with the CBSS Observer States representatives.
The CSOs were informed about the findings and recommendations of the final conference of the EuroFaculty Pskov Project 2009-2015. CSO members also welcomed their new Norwegian colleague, Mr. Per K. Mannes, Senior Adviser of the Nordic – Baltic Section of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Oslo, and made a decision on the CBSS budget for the year 2016.
The 2nd CSO meeting continued on 28 October as a Joint Meeting of the Council of the Baltic Sea States Committee of Senior Officials, the CBSS Expert Group on Sustainable Development – Baltic 21, the Baltic Sea Region Climate Dialogue Platform under Horizontal Action Climate, the European Union Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region (EUSBSR) National Coordinators, the EUSBSR Policy Area/Horizontal Action Coordinators (PA Bioeconomy, PA Hazards, PA Nutri, PA Safe and PA Ship, as well as HA Climate, HA Neighbours and HA Spatial Planning,), HELCOM represented by Ms. Monika Stankiewicz, HELCOM Executive Secretary and the European Commission, which was represented by DG Climate.
The Sister Councils of the North were also present. The Nordic Council of Ministers (Denmark) and Barents Euro-Arctic Council (Russia) were represented by their Presidency’s representatives. The Chair of the Arctic Council Sustainable Development Working Group (USA) joined the meeting via videoconference.
