Eurobaltic Risk Reduction In City Areas

A project entitled Eurobaltic Risk Reduction In City Areas  (ERRICA), is currently under review within the EU Baltic Sea Region funding programme 2007-2013 and has its background in the earlier Eurobaltic (2003-2005) and Eurobaltic II (2006-2007) projects within the INTERREG IIIB which both were initiated by CBSS.
In 2007 in the Baltic Sea States Directors-General on Civil Protection decided to further formalise this connection, making the Eurobaltic network a platform for civil protection cooperation in the CBSS.

ERRICA is a three-year strategic project in the field of civil protection and critical infrastructure protection. The ERRICA project will achieve a series of strategic plans for national and transnational investments, improved legislation and emergency response in the region, a common education platform, and a common basis for resource pooling to support the EU Community Mechanism. The project will develop concrete solutions and implement them or propose changes in the identified areas. Three concrete implementation areas have been chosen to exemplify the improvement method, namely floods, high-rise buildings and underground constructions.

The Lead Partner will be the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB). Altogether 18 project partners including the civil protection/rescue authorities, other national and local authorities as well as research institutions from most of the CBSS countries and Belarus.

TheCBSS Secretariat is a full-fledged partner in the project.
