Under the CBSS Project Support Facility, five projects have been selected for funding to strengthen security and resilience across the Baltic Sea Region.

The Swedish Institute-funded RiA-ENGAGE project brought participants to Sweden to explore effective models of cooperation between authorities and volunteers in preparedness and crisis management at national, regional, and local levels.

Meeting in Sopot under the Polish CBSS Presidency, the CBSS foreign ministers focused on regional security, hybrid threats, the shadow fleet and critical undersea infrastructure.

At the EUSBSR Annual Forum 2026 in Tallinn on 12 May, three projects working on disaster risk reduction and crisis preparedness joined forces to run an interactive flood simulation and role-play exercise based on real-life data from a major flood event in Kristiansand, Norway.

From 7–11 May 2026, Riga hosted the Baltic Youth Innovation Lab on AI & Media, funded by the CBSS Project Support Facility (PSF), where young journalists and international experts explored how artificial intelligence is reshaping journalism, media practices, and the future of storytelling.

Tallinn will host the 17th Annual Forum of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region on 11–13 May at Tallinn Creative Hub, bringing together over 500 participants to discuss security, the economy and the future in a rapidly changing world. The CBSS is co-organising the Forum.

CBSS joins the Future Cities project platform to help cities across the Baltic Sea Region use culture, creativity and civic participation as practical tools to strengthen resilience, trust and inclusive urban development.
