www.scanbalt.org ScanBalt is an activity platform for education, research and innovation. The platform spans 85 million people over 11 countries and includes more than 60 universities and over 870 biotech/life science companies. The main focal point of the platform is the ScanBalt Bioregion which was founded with the aim of ensuring that North European Life Science and Biotechnology realises its potential for global competitiveness. Achievements are funnelled through a metaregional structure, bringing together both regional and national expertise into one coherent, transnational, organisation. A dynamic network membership creates links and pathways between universities, biotech/life science industry, hospitals and other important actors in the biotech/life science arena. The pathways operate in the round and functions as an incubator for projects and ideas that re-activate the development of the ScanBalt BioRegion by building knowledge. The project networks then in turn self-promote Life Science – Biotech research or Life Science and biotechnology interests. Promotion flows both ways, either upon ScanBalt initiative or by member suggestion and facilitates the identification of key stake holders and attracts pilot project funding.
