Creating a secure, efficient and renewable energy market

Cooperation in the energy sector is key to political stability, security of energy supply, economic growth and sustainable development in the region. In 1998, the intergovernmental Baltic Sea Energy Cooperation (BASREC) was initiated by the Baltic Sea countries and the European Commission. BASREC is part of the Council of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS). Energy and climate related issues are one of the CBSS five long-term priorities. BASRECĀ“s main objective to promote sustainable growth, security and prosperity in the region and supports therefore the creation of competitive, efficient and well-functioning energy markets.
