Sweden currently holds the Presidency of the Council of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS), and one of the priorities of the Swedish Presidency is to promote the implementation of UN Agenda 2030 in the Baltic Sea Region (BSR). On 20 June 2017 in Reykjavík, the CBSS Ministers of Foreign Affairs endorsed the Baltic 2030 Action Plan. The Action Plan applies the 2030 Agenda and Sustainable Development Goals to our macro-regional context and presents a new, common vision of sustainable development for the BSR, as well as providing a general roadmap for working together to achieve them.
Sustainable consumption and production is one of the focal areas of Baltic 2030 and the CBSS Expert Group on Sustainable Development during the Swedish Presidency. Our aim is to contribute to the implementation of the Global 10 Year Framework of Programmes on SCP in line with Goal 12.1.
Next year a mid-term review of the implementation of the programmes will take place, and in that context, Sweden is organising a conference on sustainable production and consumption on 15-16 November in Umeå, Sweden. In the frame of the conference, a workshop on sustainable consumption and production among National Focal Points in the BSR will be organised after lunch on 16 November. The aim of the workshop is to support the exchange of information and experiences among the BSR National Focal Points. You are most welcome to take part in both functions.
