On 17 July 2018, the Secretariat had the pleasure of hosting young participants of a Rotary International Summer Camp. The Secretariat was among the first stops. The campers will also have the opportunity to visit the Rotary Peace Center in Uppsala and spend the day in Mariehamn, Åland.
The visit began with an introductory presentation on the history and structure of the CBSS, followed by more specific presentations on our different units and workgroups.
Programme Coordinator for the Baltic 2030 Unit, Olga Zuin, introduced the work of the CBSS aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, mentioning the Baltic 2030 involvement in the upcoming ReGeneration2030 Summit in August.
Communication & Research Coordinator, Zane Šime, introduced the group to the CBSS cooperation in the fields of research and science, with a focus on the Baltic TRAM and Baltic Science Network projects.
Finally, the participants got to a sneak peek of the recent live exercise demonstration organised by Policy Area Secure as part of the 9th EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region (EUSBSR) Annual Forum held Tallinn in June. EUSBSR Policy Area Secure Policy Officer, Nina Jernberg, showcased the work of the CBSS aimed at improving cooperation within civil security. It is done by encouraging and facilitating macro-regional, cross-sectorial dialogue between experts, governmental agencies, NGOs, business and research institutions.
